An anti-coup rally was organized in Batman under the leadership of the People´s Democratic Party (HDP), the Democratic Society Congress (DTK), the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), and the Free Women´s Congress (KJA).
In their speeches, DTK Co-Chair Hatip Dicle, İdris Baluken of the HDP İmralı Committee, and DBP Co-Chair Sebahat Tuncel gave the message of “Radical democracy against any kind of coup.”
According to the reports of Yüksekova Haber, the speeches included these statements:
Dicle: The 1922 Kurdistan sovereignty statute was approved
“The Kurdish people absolutely did not approve of the July 15 coup attempt, nor will they approve of it later.
“Turkey is negotiating with the European Union, it is a G-20 member but it couldn't be saved from coups.
“In the process of Turkey's founding, Kurds and Turks made an alliance and protected the country.
“Then, all the rights were brought to the parliament. Even the parliament, in his speeches at that time, Mustafa Kemal would say ‘Turks and Kurds are equal’”.
“This isn't written in the official history. On February 22, 1922, they even approved the sovereignty of Kurdistan.
“Presently, the constitution carries a uniform soul. This is what creates coups. Now, after this, if Turkey cannot save itself from this denialist, uniform, authoritarian republic, these coups won´t end. The way out is democracy.”
Baluken: They are supporting a dictator
“You know these malfunctioning parties, until now they say ‘one government’, ‘one nation’, now they are supporting a dictator. But they aren't different from one another.
“Following the coup attempt, with his leaving the coup performance [President Recep] Tayyip Erdoğan is called a ‘hero’.
“We're saying that Tayyip Erdoğan for a year, from the palace he planned the coup from the palace for a year. Someone who plans a coup cannot be against a coup.”
Tuncel: You will deepen the crisis
“Those who form the national front are those who make the ground for coups. They are those who disregard the Kurdish people.
“We are saying here once again: if you continue down this path, you will deepen Turkey's crisis.”
“To build a new Turkey it is not possible to disregard the Kurds.” (EKN/KT)
