The General Staff has announced that it sent an official visitor to retired generals Şener Eruygur and Hurşit Tolon, suspects for the Ergenekon case.
According to the announcement, today (September 3) Kocaeli Garrison Commander three-star general Galip Mendi visited Tolon and Eruygur in the Kandıra Prison on behalf of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).
Describing Tolon and Eruygur as two retired commanders who served the TSK for a long time, the announcement ended with the sentence that TSK’s respect to and belief in the Turkish judiciary was complete. However, the announcement did not give any explanation regarding the reason or the content of the visit.
Former 1st Army Commander Tolon and former Gendarmerie Commander and president of the Atatürkist Thought Association Eruygur has been in prison in connection with the Ergenekon investigation since July 4. (TK/EÜ/TB)
