Ambassador of France Charles Fries and Ambassador of Spain Juan Gonzalez-Barba paid a visit to İstanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu to congratulate him on his election win today (July 19).
Receiving the delegations from France and Spain separately, İmamoğlu answered the questions of journalists after his meetings.
İmamoğlu: A long overdue decision
Responding to a question about the directors general and executive board chairs in charge of metropolitan municipality's subsidiary companies, İmamoğlu shared the following information:
"In the light of the information that I have received today, around 90 percent of deputy executive board chairs and directors general, or more precisely, executive board chairs and their deputies, have resigned from office. They have also relieved the directors general of their duty.
"Therefore, the process before us has opened at least partly. We will use our authority about it and start assigning people to these positions."
Concluding his remarks, İmamoğlu referred to the resignation of former executive board chairs as "a long overdue decision" and announced that the Directors General of İstanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ) and İstanbul Electric Tramway and Tunnel Establishments (İETT) will also resign, but the process is still continuing due to the approval of the ministry.
