The governorship has inspected 730 workplaces that have Arabic signboards in the last 15 days to ensure their "compliance with the Turkish sign board standards."
Inspections began in the districts of Fatih, Zeytinburnu and Bayrampaşa, with the involvement of Provincial Security Directorate, Provincial Migration Administration and governorships and municipalities of 39 districts, under the coordination of the governorship.
At least 75 percent of the content of a sign board should be in Turkish, while 25 percent can be in Arabic, shop owners were told and given "a reasonable time" to adjust to the regulations, the governorship stated.
Ninety-eight shops sign boards of which are not in line with the regulations were found in Zeytinburnu, while 38 shops were found in Bayrampaşa.
The governorship "especially thanked" the businesses "which rapidly made their sign boards compatible to regulations," and "regretfully stated" that it will take the necessary legal actions against the businesses which don't change their sign boards in the given time. (AÖ/VK)
