All highways and main roads in İstanbul have been opened to traffic and air traffic at the İstanbul Airport has partially resumed, according to statements by relevant authorities.
Thousands of people had been stranded on roads and in the airport due to the heavy snowfall and blizzards that began early on Monday.
The Trans-European Motorway (TEM) and the Northern Marmara Highway were opened to traffic, Minister of Transport Adil Karaismailoğlu said yesterday (January 25) on Twitter.
The northern highway had remained closed for nearly two days.
Intercity bus transportation has also resumed in the city.
İstanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu also announced that all roads operated by the municipality are open.
Flights have partially resumed at the İstanbul Airport, where all air traffic stopped and thousands of people remained stranded. The airport administration announced in the morning that there would be 131 flights between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. today.
