Manisa Dündar Çiloğlu Anatolian High School administration telling the students they would be taken to a “seminar”, took the students to the "New Generation New Constitution" panel of Bilal Erdoğan, who President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan'son, .
The students who first thought they would be attending a seminar regarding university presentation didn’t want to attend the panel.
Upon that, the school administration threatened the students by telling them “Attending the panel is mandatory, we will take legal steps against those who won’t attend”.
School principal Erhan Akalın who bianet contacted stated he can’t talk about this matter and told us to call Provincial National Education Directorate.
Upon that, we’ve reached Manisa Provincial National Education Director Recep Dernekbaş. Confirming that such an incident occurred, Dernekbaş said an investigation has been launched into those who are responsible for it.
What happened? Speaking to Oğulcan Kayalar from T24, a student explained what happened: “The school administration told us at 10:30 a.m. there would be a seminar at Manisa Celal Bayar University Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center and the attendance is mandatory, otherwise we would be recorded as absent. So we went. “We learned that there is a panel about referendum in the hall in which President’s son Bilal Erdoğan to participate, and we didn’t want to go to the panel. “As we tried to leave the panel, the school administration and security officials tried to prevent us. Then we reacted and left through another door. We are students, we are not obliged to attend a political meeting. “When we returned to the school, the school principal threatened us by saying, ‘The incidents that took place today will stay here. You’ll pay the price if it leaks out’”. A student speaking to Evrensel daily said the girls and boys were taken inside the hall and seated separately. The student went on: “We all wanted to leave after learning about the content of the conference. Most of us left but faced heavy reactions from the teachers. “We returned to our school. We were threatened for singing an anthem, which we did in protest of the school principal. Legal action has been launched against us”. |
