Ankara Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into Vice PM Bülent Arınç and Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Melih Gökçek.
The aforementioned politicians have been charged with “misconduct and concealing a crime” and “embezzlement and misconduct” respectively.
It has been reported that if the prosecutor find an element of crime, a permission will be sought from Interior Ministry.
The process, on the other hand, will be different for Bülent Arınç where a request will be submitted to the Parliament regarding the removal of his parliamentary immunity.
This morning, local branches of Turkey’s Union of Architects and Engineers (TMMOB) and Chamber of City Planner’s (ŞPO) also filed complaints against Arınç and Gökçek. (NV/BM)
