The Çorlu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against Mısra Öz Sel, who lost his nine-year-old son Oğuz Arda Sel in Çorlu train derailment in 2018. The reason for the investigation is her social media messages. Sel has announced the investigation on Twitter:
"I said that I picked up my son under the train in two parts. I said that we awaited a fair judiciary with patience till today. And they call me from the police department today!!! The Çorlu Public Prosecutor's Office is summoning me due to my Twitter messages!"
Çorlu train derailment took place on July 8, 2018. While 25 people, including Oğuz Arda Sel, died in the massacre, 340 others were wounded.
'I am outraged'
As reported by Serkan Alan from Gazete Duvar news website, receiving a call from the Directorate of Security to depose, Mısra Öz Sel will depose on Friday (January 3) as she is currently out of town.
"Instead of fulfilling its fundamental duty, Çorlu Public Prosecutor's Office is occupying itself with such thing", Mısra Öz Sel has said and added:
"I will go and depose, it is not a problem. I am outraged. I was sad in the beginning, I was having a disappointment. I do not have it anymore.
"I have understood that the judicial system is this in Turkey. Unfortunately, nothing is done to find the primary negligent ones and give them the necessary punishment or to prevent such massacres.
"Instead of doing something and establishing justice, they are treating the families who have lost their loved ones cruelly and ruthlessly.
'I have lost my nine-year-old child'
"It is not a problem for me to depose. They can put me behind bars. I have been living in a dungeon since the day my son was gone. I stand behind my words. I want them to operate the justice fairly. I do not want anything else.
"I have lost my nine-year-old child. They are subjected to all types of insults by politicians. They are subjected to all types of insults before the public because they cannot fulfil their duties. What would happen if I insulted them to their faces, which I do not do.
"Çorlu Public Prosecutor's Office has deemed something like that suitable. Let them keep dealing with trivia. I will pursue my case." (EKN/SD)
