Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu's cousin died late yesterday (July 18), after being shot multiple times in the Of district of the northeastern Trabzon province.
What led to the shooting was an argument between Sefa Dönmez, 59, and the suspect, F.U., the Trabzon Governor's Office said in a written statement.
There was previous animosity and a legal dispute between the two men, according to te statement. They ran into each other at the scene of the incident, and, after a verbal argument, F.U. fired five shots at Dönmez, seriously wounding him.
Dönmez was hospitalized but eventually succumbed to his wounds. The suspect was apprehended at the scene and handed over to the judicial authorities, said the governor's office.
Minister Soylu will attend his cousin's funeral today. (AEK/VK)
