May 17 and Kaos GL Associations published a new information note on the right to a fair trial of foreigners who have tourist visa or residence permit in Turkey.
Prepared in Turkish and English, the note focuses on the scope of the right by considering the right to fair trial as a fundamental human right in the context of legislation.
It is part of a series of notes intended to help foreigners, primarily LGBTI+ people, in Turkey.
The note includes information about how to access legal aid services, especially for those who cannot afford attorney fees and other legal expenses.
Legal aid is available in cases related to personal and family law, administrative cases brought against the actions of administrative authorities, and follow-up and bankruptcy law. It is a service that can be provided in litigation.
In addition, within immigration legislation, legal aid also covers issues such as the refusal or cancellation of an international protection application, deportation decision, administrative detention and the rejection or cancellation of a residence permit.
