The consumer price index in April increased by 1.69 percent compared to the previous month and by 19.50 percent compared to the same month last year.
The inflation rate increased by 19.39 percent according to 12-month-average rates and 4 percent compared to December 2018.

The highest increase in alcoholic drinks and tobacco
In April, the highest increase was in the alcoholic drinks and tobacco group with 6.77 percent. In the clothing and shoe group, the prices increased by 5.36 percent.
Among the main spending groups, prices decreased only in communication.
The highest yearly increase in food and non-alcoholic drinks
The highest increase in the inflation rates occurred in food and non-alcoholic drinks with 31.86 percent. Compared to the same month last year, prices of household goods increased by 27.64 percent, miscellaneous good and services increased by 27.47 percent.
Prices of 294 items increased
As of April 2019, prices of 294 items out of 418 in the index increased, prices of 42 items did not change, 82 items dropped.
Lemon is the champion
Compared to the previous month, lemon was the product the price of which increased most with 31.90 percent. Onion followed it with 31.55 percent, and carrot with 26.69 percent.
Prices of eggplant decreased by 48.20 percent, beans decreased by 31.51 percent and green peppers decreased by 27.34 percent. (HA/VK)
