Indictment of Şule İdil Dere case has been completed after 17 months and approved by İstanbul Anadolu 57th Criminal Court of First Instance.
Şule Işıl Dere (23) was crushed to death by an earth-moving truck on a walking trail at Yoğurtçu Park on May 12, 2016.
As the main employer İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and as the contractor company İSTAÇ Corp. were held accountable for the incident. Seven people from both institutions including the driver are facing from 2 to 6 years in prison on charge of “causing reckless homicide”.
The quality of the offenses of which the officials will be tried were defined one by one.
The indictment stated that the project was carried out together by the İBB and İSTAÇ Corp., no measurement for life safety was taken, and those who were responsible with taking necessary precautions didn’t do their duty. (HK/TK)
