The İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has completed the investigation into the attack on dentist Sena K. in traffic in Alibeyköy, İstanbul.
The prosecutor's office was investigating the allegation that taxi driver Emre E. attacked the woman and damaged her vehicle while his wife Gülüzar E. and sister-in-law Buse K. "insulted" Sena E.
The indictment filed by the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office demands 1 year, 5 months to 8 years in prison for arrested suspect Emre E. on charges of "actual bodily harm, insult, threat and damage to property." Other suspects Gülüzar E. and Buse K. also face 1 year, 1 month to 5 years in prison on charges of "actual bodily harm, threat and insult."
Details
According to the indictment, on August 13, when the incident happened, Sena K. and Emre E. had a road rage, Emre E. insulted and threatened Sena K., damaged her vehicle and committed the act of actual bodily harm.
As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), the indictment has also noted that as one of the suspects jumped on top of the vehicle of Sena K., the windscreen of the vehicle got broken.
As indicated in the indictment, all suspects filed compaints against Sena K. on the alleged ground that she had insulted them; however, the prosecutor's office gave a decision of non-prosecution for these allegations and the parties could not come to terms about this, either.
The indictment has reportedly been sent to the İstanbul 18th Penal Court of First Instance, which is now examining the indictment.
What happened?
Sena K. had a row with Emre E. in traffic in Alibeyköy, İstanbul. She then shared the video of this row on social media.
The video showed how Emre E. jumped on the windshield of her car and broke it while attacking and insulting Sena K.
Emre E., a taxi driver, left the scene of the incident afterwards. Sena K. filed a complaint against the man and he was detained as part of an investigation launched by the İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
In his deposition at the prosecutor's office, the suspect alleged that when he was underway with his wife and sister-in-law, the Sena K.'s vehicle cut off, he blew the horn to warn her, but Sena K. insulted him.
The suspect claimed that they both pulled off after this incident, Sena K. tried to attack them and videotaped them with her phone. "As my wife had just given birth and we had just left the hospital, I could not keep my temper. When Sena K. tried to attack my wife Gülüzar E., I pushed Sena K. with my hands. Then, I got on top of the car and jumped. I did not threaten or insult Sena K. I did not batter her, but I damaged her car. I repent."
Referred to the Penal Judgeship of Peace, suspect E. was arrested on charges of "damage to property", "insult" and "injury" on August 14. (EMK/SD)
