Rejoined the ÖDP
Uras, who had been the chairperson of the party before the elections, re-registered with the party on 26 July and informed the assembly speakership of his decision on 4 August.
DTP has formed group
The pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP) candidates, who had also run as independent "Thousand Hope" candidates in order to overcome the 10 percent election hurdle, have also declared their party membership and have formed a group in parliament.
DSP has separated from CHP
Furthermore, the Democratic Left Party (DSP), which had entered the elections on the list of the Republican People's Party (CHP), has announced its separation from the CHP.
There are thus six parties in parliament now, the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) with 341 seats, the CHP with 99, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) with 70 seats, the DTP with 20, the DSP with 13, the ÖDP with 1.
There are still 5 independent candidates.
One MP less than normal
This parliamentary assembly has opened with 549 rather than 550 members because an MHP MP died in a road accident. The Supreme Electoral Board has decided not to fill his place. (AÖ/AG)
