Convicted of leading organized crime organization, Alaattin Çakıcı has threatened Karar newspaper owner Mehmet Aydın and six journalists with death.
Çakıcı released a message on the Instagram account named ‘alaatincakiciresmi’ opened on his behalf:
In the message where Çakıcı says, “(…) I’ve always informed the man I am going to hurt in advance!”, expressions such as “Those who serve the US and FETÖ (Fethullahist Terrorist Organization)”, “Those who support malice alliance in June 24 election” were used.
Mentioning Mehmet Aydın, İbrahim Kiras, Hakan Albayrak, Etyen Mahçupyan, Akif Beki, Gürbüz Özaltınlı and Ali Bayramoğlu and calling on to those who say “Order us to kill, order us to die”, Çakıcı said, “This is my call for anyone who loves me. Carry out your duty”.
Çakıcı also said that Elif Çakır should not be harmed since she is a woman.
“The journalists have been assigned bodyguards”
State-run Anadolu Agency’s former general managaer and Yeni Şafak columnist Kemal Öztürk declared that the targeted newspapers have been assigned bodyguards.
The Karar staff with whom we could contact approved this information and said that police headed towards the newspaper building.
Çakıcı’s lawyer: Decision has been suspended for three months
Çakıcı’s lawyer Can Sevinç has said, “[Çakıcı] cancelled the message he sent for his supporters for three months since Karar newspaper removed its news item published on June 26 with the headline ‘Insolent words from Çakıcı to Erdoğan’”.
In his message, Sevinç said, “This call will be cancelled indefinitely if they don’t make a mistake for three months”.
MHP leader Bahçeli visited Çakıcı
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Leader Devlet Bahçeli visited Alaattin Çakıcı in Kırıkkale Yüksek İhtisas Hospital where Çakıcı was receiving treatment on May 23.
Bahçeli had also made a call for general amnesty and asked pardon for gang leaders like Kürşat Yılmaz and Alaattin Çakıcı.
The Justice and Development Party (AKP) and MHP formed an alliance for June 24 elections and gained majority together in the parliament. (EKN/TK)
