Grup Yorum band members who are kept in Şakran Women’s Prison and Burhaniye Type T Prison, have told that that they were assaulted.
Kept in Şakran Prison in İzmir, Sultan Gökçek told that they were “attacked by the guards in their cells”, in the hearing they attended via Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS) on July 4.
When Gökçek said, “They tried to choke us with strap, we have no life safet”, SEGBİS disconnected.
After that, Gökçek told that another band member Seher Adıgüzel and four women’s cells were “raided by guards and they were subjected to physical attack”.
Kept in Burhaniye Type T Prison, Grup Yorum members Bahar Kurt and Betül Varan told that they haven’t been given hot water.
They are on the “grey list”
Grup Yorum band members are on the “wanted due to terrorist activities” list on the ground that they are members of the DHKP-C. The Ministry of Interior had declared that anyone helping the members be captured would be granted 300 thousand TL.
11 members of the group consisting of 18 people are behind bars. Selma-İnan Altın and four members of the group are on the “wanted” list, and one other band member was released after being kept in prison for a while. (AS/TK)
