The Interior Ministry's Directorate General of Migration Management has announced that the provincial administrative boundaries of the capital city of Ankara have been closed to registration of temporary protection. The decision has entered into force as of today (September 2).
The decision has come in the wake of the attacks targeting the houses and shops of Syrians in Ankara's Altındağ following a deadly fight.
In a statement shared on the official social media account of the Immigration Authority, it has been announced that some decisions have been made as a result of the evaluations of the Ankara Governor's Office, the Immigration Authority, gendarmerie and security units with the coordination of the Interior Ministry, which is authorized to regulate the acts and proceedings concerning the residence permit, international and temporary protection of foreigners. The decisions have been listed as follows:
1. Starting from September 2, 2021, the provincial administrative boundaries of Ankara have been closed to registration of temporary protection.
2. The Syrians who are registered in other provinces of our country, but residing in Ankara will be identified and sent to the provinces where they are registered and they will be followed by being obliged to notify their residence proceedings in the provinces where they are registered.
3. The derelict buildings housing incidents of migration, drugs and security in Ankara and the foreigners residing in these buildings will be identified, proceedings of demolition and eviction will be finalized and the related foreigners will be sent to the provinces where they are registered.
4. With the aim of catching the irregular migrants who do not have any protection status or residence permit and undertaking the removal procedures, they will continue to be determinedly placed under administrative surveillance in Removal Centers.
5. All types of sanctions will be imposed on the workplaces that belong to foreigners and do not have a tax registration certificate within the frame of the necessary legal regulations. (KÖ/SD)
