İstanbul Meteropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Ankara Meteropolitan Municipality Mayor Mahsur Yavaş, also two Vice-Presidents if Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the joint presidential candidate of the Nation Allliance of six opposition parties is elected the President, made a joint statement to the press at the Republican People's Party (CHP) headquarters.
“We are ahead”
İmamoğlu was the first to address the journalists.
He said, "We are following the results we collected. We are ahead in the race at the moment. Our rival is making objections to the ballot box results where we are ahead of them. They are making objections at such ballot boxes. We will be waiting for the results of these objections."
"Nobody should write any scripts. We are on watch both in Ankara and in İstanbul. We also respect the election results. We will also accept the results that come out of the ballot boxes. Nobody can expect anything else from us. We are monitoring the flow of data statistically. We have a continuous rising trend and our rival has a falling trend. We will be sharing the data proving this in the following hours.
Yavaş: I think the election will result in the first round
Ankara Meteropolitan Municipality Mayor Mahsur Yavaş spoke after İmamoğlu.
He said, "We have the results from 91 thousand and 913 ballot boxes. Accordingly, our President has 47,42 percent of the votes and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan 46,80 percent.
The results from most of the ballot boxes have not arrived yet from the three major cities, İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir. We are ahead in all of them.
Responding to a question Yavaş said, "I think the election will most probably result in the first round with the results to arrive from the metropoles." (EMK/PE)
