Arrested in Edirne Type F Closed Prison in northwestern Turkey, ill prisoner Hadi Yalçın has lost his life.
As reported by Mezopotamya Agency (MA), Yalçın had been arrested for over four year when he passed away. Charged with "membership in a [terrorist/ illegal] organization and treated for cancer, Yalçın previously requested his release, but his requests were rejected.
After his passing, it was announced that the dead body of Hadi Yalçın would be laid to rest in Turkey's southeastern province of Şırnak.
1,546 ill prisoners, 591 seriously
According to the April 2020 report of the Human Rights Association (İHD) Central Prisons Commission, there were 1,546 ill prisoners in Turkey's prisons and 591 of these prisoners were seriously ill.
