Ilke News Agency (İLKHA), announced that one of its reporters, Ali Adiyaman, has been kidnapped by PKK - Kurdistan Workers Party.
The agency released a statement, saying that Adiyaman was in Silvan’s Dağcılar village for a family visit and kidnapped by PKK for being a journalist during an ID check.
Press Council made a statement about the incident, saying that “No matter where in the country, we want journalists to carry their duties freely”. They urged authorities to do whatever is necessary.
Diyarbakir Media Members Association (DIMED) protested the incident at Sheikh Said Square. Speaking at the protest, DIMED President Mahmut İrtem urged the immediate relase of the journalist, saying that "Adiyaman's abduction is an attack on press freedom”. (EA/BM)
