32 generals and admirals were promoted and 46 colonels became generals and admirals. The terms of the 46 generals and admirals were extended.
Some of the changes were:
Four-Star General İlker Başbuğ, former head of the Army, became the new head of the General Staff.
Four-Star General, former head of the Gendarmerie, Sebahattin Işık Koşaner became the new head of the Army.

There is no expulsion this year
Nobody was expulsed in this year’s YAŞ meeting. In last year’s meeting 23 military officials were expulsed from the military. Of these, thirteen expulsions were for “indiscipline that may shake the dignity of the armed forces” and ten were for “reactionary religious attitudes and behavior.” (TK/EZÖ/TB)
