Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, the Ministry of National Education (MEB) and Ministry of Health organized a milk distribution campaign and the distribution to primary school students began today.
Dozens of students got poisoned at Hürriyet Primary School in Diyarbakır. "The symptoms are very similar: Nausea, vomiting, fainting. We came to the hospital as there were students fainted" says a teacher from Hürriyet Primary School.
The teachers said the milk packages came to school on Monday and they should be preserved for 4-5 days at schools. "This is the same case for each school. We kept them in a room, as there are no refrigerators or cold storages in the school. All schools did the same. We checked the expiration dates, none of them were expired but their expire dates were close, may be that's the problem"
Hundreds of students from different schools are treated at 5 different hospitals in Diyarbakır.
Sivas, Edirne, Kırıkkale, Antalya
There was another case of poisoning in Sivas. Deputy manager of Muzaffer Sarı Sözen Primary School said, "I am not a doctor so I cannot give information. Some students have stomachache, that's all. Some of them are at the hospitals, some of them are playing in the garden."
The poisoned students in Edirne, Antalya and Kırıkkale are also taken to the hospital. It's reported that there were no production and expiry dates on the milk packages distributed to schools. (YY)
