Human Rights Association's (İHD) Balıkesir chairperson Rafet Fahri Semizoğlu has been detained over prison visits he made in the province, according to a statement by the association.
He was detained at his home on October 31 as part of an investigation opened by the Balıkesir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it said.
The detention is against the laws and the UN Declaration on the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and must end, according to the İHD.
The investigation was intensifying the isolation of the prisoners by putting pressure on their relatives and human right defenders, it further said. (AS/VK)
