Human Rights Association (İHD) Deputy Chair and its Diyarbakır Bureau Chair Bilici has been released on probation following two weeks of detention.
Being detained during a raid launched into his home on March 15, Bilici was under custody at Diyarbakır Provincial Security Directorate Anti-Terror Bureau.
The İHD reacted to Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office
İHD Diyarbakır member attorneys had stated that there was a confidentiality order on the investigation file, and that neither themselves nor Bilici was informed of the charges pressed against him. Also, Bilici’s home was searched.
About the operation, Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office in its statement had said “the NGOs were found as sponsor for the PKK/KCK and was engaged in activities in this line”.
Responding to the prosecutor office’s statement, İHD Diyarbakır Branch said “it is unacceptable to link the NGOs’ Diyarbakır branches and administrators with terrorism”.
A math teacher Bilici, who is also a member of the Union of Education and Science Laborers, was among the 4,350 teachers who were suspended from duty in Diyarbakır on September 8, 2016. (AS/TK)
