Ahead of the hearing in the trial of public officials for murder of Hrant Dink, Hrant’s Friends have held a press statement in front of Çağlayan Court.
Noting that a part of the public officials had stood trial only one month ago for the first time, Hrant’s Friends in their statement have said; “Regardless who is behind it and how deep the issue is, we will continue our watch for justice until those who have joint responsibility over Hrant’s murder get the punishment they deserve”.
The statement, Yıldız Önen has read out in the name of Hrant’s Friends is as follows:
“Exactly one month and five days ago, we had gathered here for the watch for justice. As a result of the joint cases, a part of the public officials which we have pointed at since the beginning of the judicial process, have stood trial for the first time. And through the statements of the suspects, it has come to light again, that we were right. What was one of those suspects saying again; ‘We as the state have openly shot our eyes to Hrant Dink getting killed”.
Önen has also noted that the society today needed justice the most in these days and reiterated their demand of punishing those responsible for Hrant’s murder regardless how powerful they are.
The trial for Hrant’s murder will be held before İstanbul 14th High Criminal Court for three days and among the suspects, they are public officials such as the President of Police Intelligence Agency Engin Dinç, Istanbul Security Directorate former Director Celalettin Cerrah, Police Intelligence Agency former Directors Ramazan Akyürek, Sabri Uzun and Ahmet İlhan Güler and Trabzon Security Directorate former Director Reşat Altay (EA/ÇT/DG)
