Hrant Dink Commemorated on 10th Anniversary of His Murder

A commemoration ceremony is being held on 10th anniversary of the killing of Agos Newspaper Editor-in-Chief Hrant Dink in front of Agos newspaper.

In their speeches, both Bülent Aydın from Hrant's Friends and Rakel Dink, the Hrant Dink's wife, mentioned those who lost ther lives,  and the arrested journalists and deputies who couldn't attend the commemoration.

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MP Garo Paylan, Labor Party (EMEP) Chair Selma Gürkan, Republican People's Party (CHP) Süleyman Soylu and author Aslı Erdoğan, who has been recently released from prison she was sent to in Özgür Gündem Editor-in-Chief on Watch case, were among the crowd.

3:10 p.m.: In a speech, Rakel Dink said "The perpetrator of the murder is the state", the crowded responded with applauds. "What is sacred is people, not state. What is sacred is life".

2:20 p.m.: Bülent Aydın is welcoming the crowd that started to gather in front of Agos building with the announcement “Welcome Hrant’s friends”.

2 p.m.: Gathered to memorialize Dink, the crowd rallied in front of TRT building and marching towards Agos building chanting “We are all Hrant, We are all Armenian”, “Murderer state will account”.

1 p.m.: People started to come together for the commemoration.

A search is being carried out at the Pangaltı metro station.

Hrant’s Friends will rally in front of Agos building at 2:30 p.m. on January 19. Dink will also be commemorated with domestic and international events. (ÇT/TK)
