Positive Life Association called everyone on December 1, World AIDS Day to regularly test for HIV after unprotected sex and unsafe blood transfusion, and before pregnancy though experience no medical issues.
The statement drawing attention to the fact that HIV doesn’t show any symptoms for years after entering the body, noted that the only way to understand whether you get AIDS is to test for HIV at the right time.
10,475 HIV/AIDS cases
The statement remarking HIV spread has increased by 130 percent over the last five years, stated that there are 10,475 cases recorded in Turkey according to November 2015 data of Ministry of Health.
Inadequacy of preventive services and lack of urging for test have been shown as the reason behind this rapid increase.
Late diagnose
Other details drawn attention to are as follows:
- Every four out of 10 people in the world and Turkey diagnosed AIDs are aged between 20 and 30
- Almost half of the people who are newly diagnosed HIV have low immune system values, which indicates late diagnosis.
