Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has shared a video on his social media account featuring disease prevention recommendations from an infectious diseases specialist. The video comes as schools and universities reopen and focuses on the critical role of hygiene in warding off such diseases.
In the video, Dr. Selcan Arslan Özel encourages the public to heed the guidance of the expert. The video specifically highlights precautions essential for shared living spaces like dormitories and similar accommodations.
Two days ago, Minister Koca also announced the commencement of flu vaccinations, emphasizing their importance, "We have initiated the 2023 flu vaccine campaign as of September 15 to reduce the impact of common flu outbreaks during this time of the year, ensure milder cases of the disease, and protect public health. Those aged 65 and above, individuals in risk groups due to their health conditions, and those with chronic illnesses can receive the flu vaccine for free.”
In mid-September, Turkey reported that it had detected the Eris variant of the coronavirus in nine individuals. However, Minister Koca has downplayed its significance, aiming to reassure the public about the situation. (AS/VK)
