People's Democratic Party (HDP) Central Executive Committee issued a written statement about the event in front of the Free Cause Party (HÜDA-PAR) election campaign stand in Mersin yesterday (May 1).
Three people were beaten during a quarrel in front of the election campaign stand in Akdeniz district of Mersin. The police has taken one person, claimed to have fired a gun into the air, into custody.
HDP said in the statement that the party was pointed as a target in the media over the event.
"Those who have understood that they will suffer a historical defeat against the will of the peoples of Turkey in the May 14 elections, hope for help from deepining the tensions and polarization.
"Nobody should provide a basis for excuse for provocation to those in power who have now understood that they will be loosing. We wish to inform the whole public that we will not allow any such dirty ruse or provocation.
"We invite all our party members and our people to be careful against any provocations, and to continue to election campaing in a calm and decisive manner.
"Our party is running a very effective, enthusiastic, determined election campaign, carried out by democratic means, and despite all assaults and opreations by those in power. Neither these provocations, nor any operations carried out due to the elections will be able to prevent the development of our party, its victory and the historical defeat of those in power." (AS/PE)
