Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has suspended Muş MP Mensur Işık for two years for inflicting violence on his spouse, Ebru Işık.
In mid-July, he was referred to the party's disciplinary board with a request of permanent expulsion. The medical report that showed Ebru Işık was battered was also included in the investigation file.
HDP parliamentary group's deputy chair Meral Danış Beştaş stated today (July 28) that "Based on the principle that 'the statement of the woman is essential,' the disciplinary board heard both Mensur Işık and Ebru Işık. the defense statements were taken, the allegations were heard. Mensur Işık was given a two-year suspension from the party."
Tuma Çelik, another MP from the party, was expelled from the party on July 20 for sexual assault. (SO/VK)
