Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Group Deputy Chair Ahmet Yıldırım and HDP Urfa MP İbrahim Ayhan have been relieved of MP duties due to the jail terms imposed on them becoming definite.
According to Mezopotamya Agency, Yıldırım was relieved of MP duties due to his sentence of 14 months in prison for “insulting President”.
Ayhan Yıldırım was relieved of MP duties due to his sentence of 15 months in prison on the ground that he “propagandized for an illegal organization” by sharing a photo of Aziz Güler, who lost his life in Rojova.
The number of HDP MPs dropped from 59 to 50
In the past, Figen Yüksekdağ, Nursel Aydoğan, Besime Konca and Ferhat Encü were relieved of MP duties due to finalized penalties; Faysal Sarıyıldız, Tuğba Hezer Öztürk and Leyla Zana because of absence.
With Yıldırım and Ayhan being relieved of MP duties, the number of HDP MPs dropped from 59 to 50. (EKN/TK)
