There will be candidates who will make the young people heard at the parliament. One of these candidates is 22-year-old Dersim Dağ.
Peoples’ Democratic Party’s (HDP) Diyarbakır candidate Dersim Dağ is a young woman whose eyes shine brightly. Born in the district of Bismil, Diyarbakır, Dağ is one of 12 children of a domestic laborer mother and a father doing agriculture. However, after her family moved to İstanbul by forced migration, she grew up here.
She is studying at senior class at the department of Kurdish Language and Literature at Mardin Artuklu University.
Dağ says, “I was kind of born in the party. I come from a political family. Growing up as a Kurdish child in the 90s in İstanbul directs you to the party, and this party becomes a party for voice of mostly Kurds to be heard”.
We’ll turn the palace into palace of science
Dağ says that the shallow politics pursued in the country has become a factor for her to go into politics and adds:
“Young people not being in politics is one of the reasons that pushed me to enter politics. I ask young people ‘What can we do’. What are your demands? What can we do together? How can me be useful to this society?’ The course will change based on the answers of these questions but we will definitely turn the palace into palace of science for young people and women”.
“We’ve started young, we’ll achieve young”
In response to the question “Aren’t you afraid of entering a challenging process at such a young age?”, Dağ answers:
“Of course there are things that scare me but I am a woman who trust herself. I lean my back on my people by taking young people and women by my side. That’s why, I’m not scared. We’ve started young, we’ll achieve young”. (BD/ÇT/TK)
