Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Kadıköy District Co-Chair Gül Demir has been arrested by the court she was taken to at Çağlayan Courthouse.

Arrest of Demir was announced by the HDP Kadıköy district organization on Twitter.

Speaking to bianet, Gül Demir’s lawyer Ceren Acer said that Demir has been charged with “terror organization propaganda” and “promoting crime and criminal”.

Stating that in the search carried out in HDP Kadıköy District Center, some materials containing images of HDP’s imprisoned Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ and Kurdistan Workers’ Party’s (PKK) imprisoned leader Abdullah Öcalan as well as some documents were seized, lawyer Acer said that Gül Demir is charged over these materials.

Expressing that Demir made a long deposition, Acer stated that the judge has to think before rendering verdict even if for procedure but the judge made his decision immediately. (EKN/TK)
