Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Law Commission Chair and Adana MP Meral Danış Beştaş, Muş MP Burcu Çelik Özkan have gone to Edirne to visit HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş and Hakkari MP Abdullah Zeydan, who are imprisoned in Edirne F Type Prison.
However, the delegation having permission from Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office wasn’t allowed to meet Demirtaş and Zeydan for not having permission from the Ministry of Justice.
The delegation held a press meeting in front of HDP Edirne Provincial Organization building.
Speaking at the meeting, Beştaş told of her meeting with Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office as to her criminal complaint they filed to the Supreme Board of Judges and Prosecutors (HSYK) about prison conditions and the treatments to which Demirtaş has been subjected.
Adding that they also met with the prison warden, Beştaş noted that their meeting with Demirtaş and Zeydan was prevented by the call of the Ministry of Justice.
“Our deputies are being tortured”
“Not only Demirtaş and Zeydan but also our other deputies and Co-Chair Figen Yüksekdağ, İdris Baluken are held in one-person cells.
“This is not a decision of prison wardens. This is a central decision like their arrest following being detained on November a by a coup.
