M.K., top suspect in Hasan Ferit Gedik murder case, has been arrested last night by a vacation court and sent to Metris Prison.
The testimony of S.A. - a young man who was demonstrating along with Gedik at the time of the incident - played a key role in the detection of M.K.
Last night around 11:30 pm local time, he testified to police authorities in Istanbul, saying that three individuals including M.K. fired their guns at them.
Advocate Evrim Deniz Karatana informed bianet that a confidentiality order has been issued on the case.
“Murder, assault, violence, vandalism” charges
Sunday night’s shooting incident left Gedik dead and 5 other Gülsuyu neighborhood residents injured. Istanbul Police Organized Crime Department launched an investigation, detaining 22 suspects. Following their initial testimonies at police headquarters, suspects were sent to Istanbul Courthouse.
After submitting testimonies to Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office, 5 suspects were released and other 17 were charged with a prison sentence.
A vacation court released 3 of these remaining suspects, arresting 14 others for “premeditated murder, attempted murder, assault and vandalism”. Arrested defendants were sent to Metris Prison. (AS/BM)
