Hakkari and Şırnak province will be turned into districts while Yüksekova and Cizre districts will be turned into province. Hakkari will be called Çölemerik, Şırnak will be called Nuh.
Two law drafts were brought to parliament today (July 2). One of them was about individual pension and the other about wealth fund.
The legislation as to the aforementioned provinces and districts takes place in the law draft regarding the wealth fund.
Moving city centers of Hakkari and Şırnak had come to the agenda in January within scope of the fight against terrorism.
About Yüksekova
Yüksekova is one of the three districts of Turkey's southeastern province of Hakkari. It is located a few kilometers away from the Turkish-Iraqi border. Its population in 2015 is 118,147. November 1, 2015 General Election Results HDP (% 93,65), AKP (% 4,23), CHP (% 0,66), MHP (% 0,78) Yüksekova Municipality Co-Chairs Ruken Yetişkin and Tacettin Safalı, as well as municipality council member Nazife Evin have been suspended in September 2015 by the Ministry of Interior Affairs over proclamation of self-governance. |

Border trade Cizre is historically an important settlement. Historic Silk Way goes through Cizre. Income channel of the region is border trade. The Syrian civil war has dealt a huge blow on the economy of the district. Agriculture The locals mostly go to various regions in Turkey as seasonal agricultural worker. Because of abandoning villages in the 90s, agricultural lands have considerably lost their economic value. Another reason why the agriculture regressed is decrease in river discharge because of dams built on the river. Bilingual city The population is predominantly Kurdish. Practice of bilingualism has been carried into especially in municipality services in the Solution Process. The signs in the district are mostly bilingual. |
