Cihan Karaman, the mayor of the Kurdish-majority city of Hakkari, has been arrested in a "terror investigation."
He was detained in police raids against mayors and municipal administrators from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).
Yüksekova District Co-Mayors Remziye Yaşar and İrfan Sarı, along with Karaman, were brought to the courthouse after giving statements at the police directorate.
Hakkari Penal Court of Peace on Duty ruled for the arrest of Karaman for "membership of an illegal organization" and "propagandizing for an illegal organization."
Questioning of Yaşar and Sarı is continuing. (HA/VK)
