The Governor's Office of Malatya has released a written statement about the people killed in the Gare region in Iraq. The Office has disclosed the identity of the 13th person killed there and announced that Jotyar Muhsin Hussein, a citizen of Iraq, was among the deceased.
Making a statement about the Gare operation, Turkey's Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar said that the dead bodies of 13 people, taken hostages and held by the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), were found during a search in a cave in the mountainous Gare area.
Initially, it was believed that all of them were citizens of Turkey; but it has turned out that the 13th person is Jotyar Muhsin Hussein. As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), his body is returned to his family.
The Governor's Office of Malatya province has also reminded the public that the identities of 12 citizens of Turkey were previously disclosed to the public after autopsies were conducted at a forensic lab.
The other 12 deceased people were as follows:
1- Specialist sergeant Hüseyin Sarı, registered in Maraş
2- Sergeant Semih Özbey, a petty officer registered in Malatya
3- Private Adil Kabaklı, registered in Osmaniye
4- Gendarme private Süleyman Sungur, registered in Siirt
5- Specialist sergeant Mevlüt Kahveci, registered in Eskişehir
6- Private Müslüm Altıntaş, registered in Urfa
7- Contracted private Sedat Sorgun, registered in Erzurum
8- Specialist gendarmerie sergeant Ümit Gıcır, registered in Balıkesir
9- Vedat Kaya, a police officer registered in Mardin
10- Police officer Sedat Yabalak, registered in Mersin
11- Aydın Köse, registered in Adıyaman
12- Muhammet Salih Kanca, in Samsun
