Police have closed the Gezi Park and around the Taksim monument to pedestrians on the 3rd anniversary of the Gezi Resistance.
Taksim Solidarity had announced that they would issue a press statement at 7 p.m. at Gezi Park. Hundreds of police barricades were piled around the park in the evening hours. Gezi Park and around the Taksim monument have been closed to the pedestrians with the police barricades.
15 people consisting executive and staff the Chamber of Architects, one of the components of the Taksim Solidarity, were taken into custody today (May 31) for protesting against emptying Yıldız Palace Outer Post Building used as service building assigned to the chamber.
Riot squad, buses and anti-riot vehicles (TOMA) are present at Gezi Park, Taksim monument and around the Atatürk Culture Center.
Riot squad and vehicles are deployed on the streets as well leading to the Taksim square.
There are TOMAs and riot squad vehicles on the İstiklal street too. (BK/TK)
