Secretary General of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality Hayri Baraçlı has announced that he has resigned from office with his vice secretaries.
Releasing a written statement on his Twitter account today (June 28), Hayri Baraçlı said, "We are voluntarily leaving our duties, which we have been carrying out with great effort, so that we can pave the way for the new administration to work with its own team."

The resignation of Secretary General and his vice secretaries came after Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been elected the new mayor in repeat İstanbul elections on June 23, received his certificate of election yesterday.
The following Vice Secretaries have resigned together with Baraçlı: Muzaffer Hacımustafaoğlu, Mevlüt Bulut, Süleyman Karalı, Nihat Macit, Çağatay Kalkancı, Eyyüp Karahan, Adil Karaismailoğlu and Ali Karaaslan.
'We are leaving our duties voluntarily'
Announcing their resignation on Twitter, Hayri Baraçlı said,
"The June 23 İstanbul Metropolitan Mayoral Election Rerun was held in a democratic environment and Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu has been elected the Mayor with İstanbulites' preference. We congratulate him.
"Out of our belief in democracy and respect for our mission, ourselves and İstanbul, we, as executives affiliated with the General Secretariat of İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality, are voluntarily leaving our duties, which we have been carrying out with great effort, so that we can pave the way for the new administration to work with its own team."
