Turkish security forces attacked the protestors keeping wait at their tents with gas bombs and plastic bullets after encircling them with vehicles and police tanks dispatched to the region.
There are injured protestors who still are not able to go to the hospital because of the security cordon according to Fırat News Agency’s information.
On the other hand according to Milliyet newspaper, a hand-made bomb reinforced with metal parts was thrown while heavy machinery closed up a ditch dug in the road.
YDG-H had closed the Diyarbakır-Bingöl, Diyarbakır-Lice and Lice-Muş highways to traffic for the past week showing the police station constructions as justification.
The gist of the Diyarbakır Governorship’s declaration is as follows:
“Illegal groups led by a divisive terror organization have been attempting to intercept travel on the Diyarbakır-Bingöl and Diyarbakır-Muş highways since May 24, 2014.
“Security forces have started to take the security precautions to close up ditches protestors dug between the Lice-Ziyaret Neighborhood on the Diyarbakır-Bingöl highway and the Hani-Çağıl Neighborhood, and to lift the obstacles to traffic at the Çağıl Neighborhood junction.
“The conducted operations are aimed entirely at ensuring our citizens’ freedom of travel.” (EKN/PU/BM)
