A gag order has been issued on coverages about assassination of Andrey Karlov, the Russian Ambassador to Turkey a week after the assassination.
The gag order request by Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office Constitutional Crimes Investigation Bureau was accepted by Ankara 7th Criminal Judgeship of Peace last night (December 26).
The ground for the gag order was introduced as “protection of national security, public order and safety, and territorial integrity”.
Some news covering statements of girlfriend of assailant Mevlüt Mert Altıntaş took place in media today.
In his statement in the wake of the assassination, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had announced that the investigation would be carried out in joint efforts with Russia.
The investigation is ongoing. (AS/TK)
