G.A., a 21-year-old woman living from the southeastern Diyarbakır province, had filed a complaint against five men relatives of her, stating that they had been raping her.
Initially, a statement was taken from only A.D. After 10 months, the other four men, İ.A., M.A., Ş.A. and İ.A, also gave statements at the prosecutor's office in Hani district and then were released, Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reported.
What happened?
G.A. (21), who lives in Çukur Neighborhood in Diyarbakır's Hani district stated that she had been sexually assaulted by five of her relatives for one year.
While G.A. was threatened with death if she told anyone about what happened, her mother F.A. was beaten by the perpetrators after she witnesses the systematic sexual assault. She was then paralyzed, became bedridden and lost her ability to speak.
F.A. lost her life suspiciously in the hospital where she was treated. Her death was not investigated.
G.A. was sent to a women's shelter by the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Sciences and has had to change five shelters due to life-threatening situations. (EMK/VK)
