The former Diyarbakır MP of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Edip Berk and a reserve member of the HDP Party Assembly Gülşen Özer have been taken into custody in a police raid conducted to their houses.
It has been stated that Berk and Özer, who have been taken to Diyarbakır Security Directorate, have been detained as part of an investigation, which has been launched into the statements that they made during the Newroz celebrations in Turkey's eastern province of Bingöl in 2018.
Berk was elected as HDP Diyarbakır MP on June 7, 2015. (ÇT/SD)
