Former Minister of Treasury and Finance, Lütfi Elvan, has been appointed as the Deputy Chair of the Board of Directors of Kalyon Holding, led by Cemal Kalyoncu.
According to reports by Habertürk, Lütfi Elvan, in his statement regarding the role he has assumed within the company, expressed:
"I am pleased to take on the position of Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kalyon Holding, which has made significant contributions to Turkey's development and growth in various sectors, ranging from energy to construction, transportation to infrastructure. By bringing the knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my education and public service to the private sector, I aim to further enhance the value that the Holding has provided to our country."
Kalyon Holding, known for securing numerous public contracts through the Build-Operate-Transfer model and benefiting from tax exemptions and exceptions from duties and fees, has faced criticism in the past. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, the leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP), previously claimed that the company had received a tax exemption worth 9 billion and labeled it as part of a group he referred to as the "Gang of Five."
