Deniz Baykal, the Ex-Chairperson of the Republican People's Party (CHP) lost his life at the age of 84.
CHP Chairperson Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu shared a message from his social media accounts.
He said, "I learned with great sorrow the death of our Chairperson, the person who loved Türkiye and CHP so much, our Antalya MP, our dear elder. We left behind a life story full of struggles. My condolences to our nation."
Deniz Baykal's funeral will be in Antalya on Tuesday, his daughter announced.
Born on July 20, 1938, Deniz Baykal was the 4th Chairperson of CHP. He was the deputy prime minister between 1995-1996. He participated in many governments as a minister and he was the chairperson of CHP between 1992-2010 except for short periods.
Deniz Baykal was the leader of the main opposition party between 2002-2010. (AÖ/PE)
