Forest fires have erupted In the district of Dursunbey and Marmara Island in Balıkesir and in Burgazada in İstanbul. Fire brigade crews are continuing their efforts to put out the fires both on land and by air.
Balıkesir
The forest fire that broke out in the district of Dursunbey in Balıkesir has quickly grown. 10 sprinklers, two water trucks and one helicopter of Dursunbey Department of Forestry are intervening against the fire.
The fire broke out in the forestland in Alaçam Neighborhood. While the teams of Dursunbey Department of Forestry have intervened against the fire, crews from neighboring cities and districts are also referred to the region.
Speaking about the issue, Dursunbey District Mayor Ramazan Bahçıvan has stated that the fire is not likely to spread to Alaçam Neighborhood, expressing his hopes that it will be put out by the evening.
Marmara Island
A fire broke out in Mestanağa in Marmara Island near residential areas. The fire that erupted for reasons yet unknown has spread to the forestland.
Fire brigade crews of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality and water sprinklers of the Marmara Adalar District Municipality and Balıkesir Regional Directorate of Forestry have intervened against the fire. Fire extinguishing helicopters have also been referred to the region.
Making a statement about the issue, Marmara Adalar Mayor Süleyman Aksoy has indicated that the crews are trying to take the fire under control so that it will not spread to residential areas.
Burgazada
After a fire broke out in Burgazada Island in İstanbul, fire brigade teams have been referred to the area. Fire extinguishing helicopters are also intervening against the fire. To support the fire extinguishing efforts, fire brigade crews from Maltepe, İstanbul have set out for the island.
It has been reported that the fire has spread to a 10-decare area and the fire extinguishing efforts of the fire brigade are still continuing. (HA/SD)
