Efforts to control the forest fire that erupted in a wooded area in Kemer district, Antalya, on Monday evening are still ongoing.
The region's challenging terrain has made ground access difficult, leading firefighting teams to deploy night vision-equipped helicopters and ground crews to battle the flames throughout the night. As the morning hours arrived, additional helicopters and planes joined the firefighting operations.
The helicopters swoop down to collect water from the sea and transport it to the burning areas to bolster extinguishing efforts. On the ground, a concerted response involving numerous bulldozers, heavy machinery, fire trucks, and dedicated forest workers is also in progress to combat the wildfire.
In parallel, in Antakya district, Hatay province, another fire broke out yesterday afternoon in a forested area of Kisecik neighborhood. The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
Authorities swiftly responded to the incident, dispatching two fire-fighting planes, nine helicopters, ten fire trucks, and teams from the Forest Regional Directorate and the Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department to the scene.
The efforts to control the fire in Antakya involve both aerial and ground interventions, as the teams are working to bring the situation under control. (TY/AS/VK)
