Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has spoken about the reports suggesting that Syrian army to enter Afrin.
Saying that the Syrian army entering Afrin to carry out an operation against the People’s Protection Units (YPG), Çavuşoğlu said, “But if they enter [Afrin] to the protect the YPG, then no one can stop Turkish troops”.
“The same goes for Munbij”
Saying that they’ve launched the Afrin operation to take the YPG out of the region, Çavuşoğlu went on:
“We have been laying our emphasis on Syria’s territorial and border integrity.
“Now, would the [Syrian] regime enter here or not? If it does, what would it enter for? This is very important.
“If the regime enters [Afrin] to eliminate the YPG, there is no problem. However, if it is heading there to protect the YPG, then no one can stop us, Turkey and the Turkish soldiers.
“This goes for Afrin and Munbij as well as east of Euphrates. This point is important”. (EKN/TK)
