Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has spoken on US attack on Syrian Shayrat Air Base in Homs.
Stating that they find US intervention proper, Çavuşoğlu said Syrian Leader Bashar al Assad needs to be cast out from Syria.
Answering to journalists’ questions in Alanya district of Antalya, Çavuşoğlu spoke as follows:
“We support the intervention”
“Assad has killed people with various methods. This person needs to account for before law and his resources must be destroyed.
“We find US intervention proper and support it, and we tell those who support such a regime ‘Let us maintain national unity and integrity of Syria. Let us not stand behind one person. We shouldn’t justify these figures”.
“There can be new immigration waves”
“What steps will we take? We met Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Germany and France yesterday (April 7).
“We contacted [Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey] Lavrov and [US Secretary of State Rex] Tillerson. There can be new immigration waves because of these attacks.
“We need to expand secure zones”
“Secure zones in Syria now matter more than ever. We need to expand these.
“We also have to harbor those who had to abandon their homes here”.
“We need an interim government without Assad”
“We need to cast this regime out of Syria. We need an interim government without Assad.
“He doesn’t want to leave his post and still continues to commit humanitarian crimes. Every necessary step should be taken to cast this person out of here”. (EKN/TK)
